Not long ago my son said he wished there were a life manual. I knew what he meant. Living on one’s own can be a bit daunting, and one usually wants to appear fearless and on top of every situation. I decided to write out the things he would need or want to know but wouldn’t want to ask, because then he’d have to admit he didn’t know or wasn’t listening as I was teaching them to him.
LifeSkill Secrets is designed to be a reference to the art of self-care for newly independent adults of all types:
- Young adults just starting to be on their own
- Separated, divorced or widowed people or single parents who are finding themselves newly single and had someone else doing some of these things.
- Any adults who want to do life better or easier.
Who Is Doing the Writing
I have been a fashion designer, patternmaker (of manufactured clothes), grader (made the patterns into all sizes), teacher, volunteer assimilation administrator and international conference coordinator. I have been a web designer since 2005. I love bringing order from chaos.
I became a mom fairly late (at 36), but of all the jobs I have had in my life, the one I loved most was being a Mom. I originally started this project to help my adult son, but realized there are many people of all ages who could use the same information. This is for all of you. I hope the guidance here is of help to you.
These are things I have learned along the way. I like to think of myself as efficient, but the truth is, I am lazy, and I like to get stuff done well, but quickly and as easily as possible. I don’t know anywhere near everything. I am always open to learning easier and better ways of doing things.
